I recently found my old copy of Baldur’s Gate at my mom’s house. My copy is pretty old (I have no clue when my brother got it. Some point in the 90’s I think) but it installed on my computer with no problem.

You can do a number of things. First make sure you are running it in Compatibility mode. To do this right click the baldur.exe and click properties. Then go to compatibility tab and make sure you click the check mark for Windows XP. Windows XP runs Baldur’s gate fine so it should work. If that doesn’t work then you will have to give me a more detailed description of this “lag” that is happening such as screenshots. I hope this helps.
